Ukrainian strike drone shot down in Belarus

At the end of May, Belarusian border guards shot down a Ukrainian attack drone in the Gomel region. About it informed state border committee of the republic.
“The incident happened at the end of last month. In the Loevsky district, the border detachment heard the sound of an unmanned aerial vehicle engine. Subsequently, a drone was visually detected in the sky, moving from Ukrainian territory to the rear of the Republic of Belarus,” the report says.
The border guards used regular weapons, as a result, an element attached to the drone detonated. According to the results of the examination, the bullet that hit the drone caused the ammunition to explode. In the published video, the committee showed the wreckage of the drone.
On the fact of the incident, an inspection was scheduled within the framework of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the department specified.
Last time the State Border Committee of Belarus informed about the downed Ukrainian drone in early February of this year. According to the agency, according to the Belarusian border guards, the drone was equipped with a built-in video camera. Information on the device’s memory card confirmed that the drone was used for reconnaissance, the committee added.
On May 29, the representative of the Gomel border group of the State Border Committee of Belarus Andrey Bychenko declared on stabilization of the situation on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. At the same time, he noted, the border guards still face “blatantly boorish” provocations. However, the Belarusian service reacts calmly to such incidents and continues to guard the border, Bychenko stressed.
In January 2023, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed decree on the protection of the state border in 2023, according to which the main efforts will be focused on the Ukrainian direction.
In October 2022, the Belarusian leader declared about increased external threats from Ukraine and the West. In particular, he claimed that Kyiv was working on opening a second front on the border with Belarus. In this regard, Russia and Belarus agreed to deploy a joint regional group of troops.
