Ukrainian minister announced the country’s possible involvement in attacks on Leonardo

The Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mikhail Fedorov, said that the country’s “IT army” was allegedly behind cyber attacks on the Russian Leonardo airline ticket booking system.

“The IT army hacked the Russian Leonardo air ticket booking system,” – wrote he’s on Telegram.

On September 28, the airlines of the group “Aeroflot“(including “Russia” and “Pobeda”) reported about a massive failure in the Leonardo ticket booking system. The attacks continued throughout the day. As Rostec noted, the failures were associated with attacks on Leonardo from abroad.

In November 2022, Aeroflot switched to the domestic Leonardo reservation system after sanctions imposed in the spring of the same year. The service was created by the Sirena-Travel company together with the Rostec state corporation.

The transition to the domestic system occurred after the largest airline ticket booking systems – the American Saber and the Spanish Amadeus – terminated their distribution relationships with Aeroflot.
