Ukraine has tightened the rules for the transit of its agricultural products to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia: for using these countries as sales markets rather than transit corridors, suppliers will be excluded from the list of verified subjects of the Ukrainian agro-industrial complex. Control over compliance with the new rules has actually been transferred to the European authorities: it is they who will inform the Ukrainian side of violations. Thus, the problem of overstocking the Eastern European markets, which was discussed throughout last year, has at least been formally resolved. For Ukraine, maintaining the “paths of solidarity” means an almost guaranteed closure of its export needs.
