Ukrainian General Syrsky: Russians have increased the intensity of shelling in Artemovsk

The Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Alexander Syrsky, reported on the results of his visit to the war zone in Artemivsk (Bakhmut).
“Heavy defense continues,” he wrote on his Telegram channel, adding that Russian troops have increased the intensity of shelling with heavy weapons in the city.
In addition, the Ukrainian general noted, the Russian Armed Forces began to use more advanced equipment and are regrouping troops.
According to Syrsky, the Russian military is doing everything possible to take control of Artemovsk and continue offensive operations.
In this regard, he noted that it is important to make decisions as quickly as possible and predict the development of the situation.
“But the Russians still hope to capture the city by May 9. Our task is to prevent this,” Syrsky also wrote, adding that during the visit he presented state and departmental awards to the Ukrainian military.
