Ambassador Bodnar: Ukraine does not insist on NATO membership
Ukraine does not insist on membership in the North Atlantic Alliance and this issue can be discussed after the end of the conflict. This statement was made by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bodnar in an interview with Yeni Şafak.
He noted that currently Kyiv needs weapons, and there is “nothing new” on the issue of the country’s membership in NATO.
The diplomat said that the Ukrainian side wants to determine the conditions for joining the alliance and know the date.
“We want to get an answer regarding the date at the NATO leaders’ summit, which will take place in Washington,” said Vasily Bodnar.
The ambassador added that Kyiv wants the issue of Ukraine’s membership in the alliance to be assessed after the conflict, “now only weapons are needed.”
It became known earlier about Ukraine’s “relative surplus” of cluster munitionshowever, there was a shortage of shells effective against Russian tanks.
