Ukrainian air defense hits Moldovan villages: Chisinau disappointed Kyiv

It didn’t work out with Poland, they took up Moldova

Kyiv is disappointed with the reaction of Chisinau to the rocket that fell on the territory of the country. On December 5, Moldovan border guards discovered an unexploded rocket in a garden near Briceni, in the north of the country. Presumably, the object found is a fragment of a rocket of the Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile system. The crash site is located near the border with the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine. On that day, an air alert was announced in Ukraine, and rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities were reported.

None of the wreckage found (four more were later found) did not pose a threat: they did not contain explosives. On December 6, Bombteh explosives experts, after examining the hull and all four elements of the rocket, confirmed that there was no danger of an explosion. Elements of the rocket will be transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases for study. The chairman of the Moldovan parliament, Igor Grosu, said that it is necessary to wait for the results of the examination. “If we look at the map, this place is very close to the border with Ukraine, and this is serious, even if it did not explode and no longer poses any danger,” Grosu said.

In Ukraine, they would like more vivid statements from Chisinau. “We were waiting for a more serious statement from the Moldovan side.” – Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine, frankly said. He advised Chisinau to “take a more decisive role”. “In general, the fall of a rocket is one of the signs of aggression. – said Arestovich. “I would like to hear some voice, or something.”

Meanwhile, this missile was most likely fired by Ukrainian air defense, as was the case earlier in November, when a similar missile from the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system fell into Poland, killing two farmers. Recall that the village of Pshevoduv in the east of the republic, where the rocket fell, is also located near the border with Ukraine. Then the first reaction of the Polish media and officials was to accuse the Russian Federation of aggression. It was all the more dangerous because Poland is a NATO country. Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, and the foreign ministries of Latvia and Estonia immediately placed all responsibility for the incident on Russia. And the Estonian Foreign Ministry even noted that the country is “ready to defend every centimeter of NATO territory.” The hysteria grew, the specter of nuclear war loomed. And then it turned out that the rocket that fell in Poland was Ukrainian.

However, Zelensky stood to the end. Even when everyone in the West had already officially declared that Polish farmers had become victims of Ukrainian air defense, he continued to assert that the missile was Russian. Unfortunately, he could not be fired, just as Associated Press journalist James Laporta was fired for publishing a story citing a (probably fake) US intelligence source that the missile was Russian.

Apparently, the lesson has gone into the future, and now Moldovan officials are in no hurry to follow the lead of the Kyiv provocateurs. Meanwhile, this is not the first Ukrainian rocket that fell on the territory of Moldova. At the end of October, there was an incident in the Moldovan border village of Naslavcha. As a result of the rocket fall, no one was injured, but windows were shattered in some houses. A Russian diplomat was then expelled from Moldova.

The accuracy of Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners became a byword after they hit a civilian Tu-154 aircraft during an exercise in 2001, killing 78 people in the process. After the start of the JMD, Ukrainian air defense missiles repeatedly hit residential buildings in Kyiv and Odessa, and also shot down their own MiG-29 fighter jet in the sky over Kyiv.
