Ukraine’s MFA summons Hungarian ambassador over Orban’s scarf

After the appearance of the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban at a football match in a scarf with a map of “Great Hungary”, the country’s ambassador was summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. The department considered that the image promotes the ideas of revisionism and does not contribute to the development of Ukrainian-Hungarian relations.
In a scarf, Orban appeared at the match between the national teams of Hungary and Greece in Budapest.
“Great Hungary” refers to the territories that were under the rule of the Kingdom of Hungary as part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the end of the First World War. In the 21st century, part of these territories is part of Ukraine, as well as Austria, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Croatia.
Romanian MEP Alin Mituta had previously also accused Orban of revisionism and urged EU leaders to isolate him.
