The government of Ukraine has approved the withdrawal from the agreement with Russia on cooperation in the field of border control, Taras Melnichuk, a representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, wrote on his Telegram channel.
“The draft law “On the termination of the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the implementation of joint control of persons, vehicles and goods on the Ukrainian-Russian state border” has been approved,” he wrote.
Ukraine also earlier terminated the agreement between the government of Ukraine and the government of Belarus on the organization of joint control at checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Belarusian state border, concluded on December 14, 1995.
The Ukrainian authorities regularly announce their withdrawal from the agreements that were concluded with Russia and Belarus, as well as within the CIS. The termination of such treaties became more frequent after the start of the military operation in Ukraine. Thus, at the end of May 2022, the country denounced an agreement to perpetuate the memory of the courage and heroism of the peoples of the CIS in the Great Patriotic War, as well as an agreement to avoid double taxation of income and property and prevent tax evasion.
