Ukraine received a record $4.6 billion in foreign aid in August

The amount of financial assistance Ukraine received from foreign donors in August amounted to $4.6 billion, which was a record high since February, said Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.
“These funds were very important to us. They allowed us to increase the amount of funds received from donors in August to $4.6 billion. This is the largest amount we have received in a month in the last six months,” – leads his words TASS.
The funds received were enough to cover all budget expenditures, he added.
Yesterday it became known that the government of Norway will provide Ukraine receives $200 million in financing for gas purchases, the funds will be allocated as part of the already announced $1 billion assistance package.
Last week US President Joe Biden announced on a new aid package for Ukraine in the amount of $2.98 billion. This tranche is expected to allow Ukraine to purchase air defense systems, artillery systems, various ammunition, drones and radars to ensure “long-term self-defense”.
At the beginning of the month, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky declaredthat the EU “artificially delays” financial assistance to Ukraine for 8 billion euros. He noted that the citizens of Ukraine, in particular pensioners and teachers, depend on budget payments, and called on EU countries not to make Ukrainians “hostages of indecision or bureaucracy.”
