Ukraine is close to reaching an agreement with the IMF on $900 million in aid – Kommersant

The Ukrainian authorities are close to concluding an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to allocate $900 million, the agency reports Bloomberg. At the same time, an unnamed IMF representative did not confirm to RIA Novosti the imminent conclusion of an agreement on assistance to Ukraine.
According to Bloomberg, Ukraine may reach an agreement with IMF staff as early as today, February 22. According to the agency, IMF staff under the leadership of the head of the mission in Ukraine, Gavin Gray, assessed whether Ukraine had fulfilled the conditions for receiving the loan. The group must pledge aid in Washington. After that, it may take a few more days to finalize the agreement, the sources said.
“The IMF team led by Gavin Gray is currently in Warsaw to conduct the third review of the Extended Fund Facility agreement for Ukraine. The team will report the end of the mission,” a representative of the foundation told RIA Novosti. When asked if he could confirm that the IMF and Ukraine are close to a new tranche, the fund representative answered in the negative.
On December 12, it became known that IMF representatives had arrived in Kyiv. This spring, the fund is due to begin reviewing the extended financing program for Ukraine for the third time. In March 2023, the IMF approved a four-year loan for the first time to a country experiencing fighting. The $15.6 billion program was coordinated by the European Union and G7 countries.
