Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Taras Kachka said that Kyiv is ready to limit food exports to the European Union in order to alleviate the concerns of Polish farmers. He added that Ukraine can use monitoring and licensing tools to stabilize the sharp increase in supplies.

“We will accept the fact that export growth will not be as fast as it was in previous years… Now predictability in the market is more important for Ukrainian producers and exporters than aggressive growth,” said Taras Kachka (quoted by Bloomberg).

According to Mr. Kachka, the Ukrainian government has taken a step forward. As the deputy minister clarified, Kyiv expects that exporters will carry out deliveries only with the permission of the Polish authorities.

Since the fall of 2023, Polish farmers have been protesting over the supply of cheap Ukrainian grain to the country. Since November, they began blocking automobile checkpoints on the border with Ukraine.

On February 28, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Warsaw is negotiating with Kiev on a temporary ban on the movement of goods across the border. Taras Kachka denied these words and said that the Ukrainian side was able to find a constructive solution to the problem.
