Ukraine imposed sanctions against more than 600 Russian politicians

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) on September 7 imposed sanctions on 606 representatives of the Russian political elite, informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening video message.
“Today, the National Security and Defense Council made an important decision: sanctions were imposed on 606 individuals belonging to the top leadership – 28 members of the Russian Security Council, 154 members of the Federation Council, 424 deputies of the State Duma of Russia,” he said.
What kind of restrictions were introduced, the Ukrainian president did not specify. According to him, all these people are responsible for the start of the Russian special operation.
August 5 government of Ukraine approved Zelensky’s decree on the seizure of 903 Russian assets in favor of the state. In addition to assets belonging to the Russian state, Kyiv plans to confiscate assets belonging to sanctioned citizens and companies from Russia, as well as assets of Russian banks. In addition, Ukraine intends to seek the confiscation of Russian assets abroad.
On March 10, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the forced seizure of property of the Russian Federation and its residents. In accordance with the provisions of the law, the compulsory seizure of objects of Russian property will be carried out without any compensation for its value. In early August, Zelensky estimated the volume of seized Russian assets at $765 million.
