The news agency “Interfax-Ukraine” announces the start of registration in Ukraine of ships wishing to use the “humanitarian corridor” for the export of grain, writes RG.RU.
According to the publication, the corridor would release cargo ships trapped in the ports of Ukraine.
The representative of the Ukrainian Navy Dmitry Pletenchuk said that the registration is already open, the coordinator is working, everything will be under the supervision of the Ukrainian military.
At the same time, he said that it is expected that “the first units” of ships will pass through the corridor in the near future, but “the conditions are quite difficult … We warned shipowners and captains that it is impossible to guarantee 100% security at the moment.” Pletenchuk added that “only with time it will be clear how this additional corridor will work.”
Russia did not say whether it would abide by the shipping corridor, and shipping and insurance sources have expressed concerns about security once the grain deal is completed.
