In Ukraine, they said they were afraid of cyber attacks from Russia through computers connected to Starlink
Ukrainian computers connected to the Internet through Starlink terminals may be more susceptible to cyberattacks from the Russian side. This was stated by the Ukrainian State Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-UA).
According to experts from this service, the most serious threat allegedly comes from residents of Crimea, former SBU officers who since 2014 have joined the FSB of the Russian Federation. This is due to the fact that they use computers with Internet access via Starlink. At the same time, these computers are outside the protection perimeter.
The last major cyberattack in Ukraine was reported on July 5th. Then the State Statistics Service said that due to outside interference, the provision of data from the areas of demography, employment, labor migration and the economy to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was stopped.
Starlink is a satellite network for broadband Internet access anywhere in the world. Since 2018, it has been created by SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk.
