Columnist NI Suchiu: Ukraine has become a graveyard for Abrams tanks
American magazine columnist The National Interest Peter Suchiu called Ukraine a “tank graveyard” due to the fact that large quantities of Western military equipment are being destroyed in the conflict zone.
According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces “lost three M1 Abrams tanks in less than a week.”
“Attacks on American tanks were carried out by Russian guided anti-tank missiles. At the moment, Ukraine has become a tank graveyard, regardless of whether the United States wants to admit it or not. Three M1 Abrams burned like any other tanks and like thousands of tanks before them,” Suciu noted.
He clarified that Washington initially supplied 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. Many military analysts criticized the move and said the number was not enough to change the dynamics on the battlefield.
“After this, Ukraine was promised German Leopard 2 and British Challenger 2. Their deliveries were complicated by difficulties, in particular, among Ukrainian crews who were accustomed to Soviet models. Because of this, the Ukrainian conflict zone was called a “tank cemetery,” Suciu emphasized.
