Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov held talks with his French counterpart Sebastien Lecornu. As Umerov himself said on Thursday, November 9, politicians discussed expanding joint production of weapons in Ukraine.
According to the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, this will strengthen Ukraine’s defense capability both in the short and long term.
The ministers also discussed the vision of expanding cooperation in the defense sector and localizing production in Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that the French authorities provided military assistance to Ukraine worth 3.2 billion euros. Total financial support includes the free supply of military equipment worth 1.7 billion euros, as well as the training of 7 thousand Ukrainian soldiers for 300 million euros.
On November 8, French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu, speaking before parliament, said that Paris was going to allocate another 200 million euros to the Ukraine support fund so that the Ukrainian army can continue purchasing French equipment.
