The National Corruption Prevention Agency (NAPC) has included the British corporation Unilever in the list of “international sponsors of the war.” This was reported in the press service of the agency.
“The reason was that, while operating in Russia, the company pays significant taxes to the Russian state budget,” the Ukrainian department explained. Thus, the list included such brands as Lipton, Dove, Calve, Pure Line, Rama, Brooke Bond, Creme Bonjour, CIF, Knorr, Sunsilk, Timotei, CLEAR, etc.
The NAPC also clarified that Unilever promised to suspend imports and exports of its products to the Russian market, while, according to the agency, the company has increased profits since the start of the military operation in Ukraine. “Unilever Russia profit doubled from 4.8 billion rubles. in 2021 to more than 9.2 billion rubles. last year,” the NAPC said.
On June 23, the agency added the Chinese automaker Geely to the list of “war sponsors”. In its message, the Ukrainian department cited the words of the owner of Geely, Li Shufu, who said that he did not understand why he should “force each of his auto brands to punish a Russian client.” The entrepreneur also supported Geely’s decision to increase sales in Russia.
In April of this year, the NAPC added another Chinese corporation, Xiaomi, to its list. The company responded by saying that every person has the right to access the means of communication and information on the Internet.
