UK Visa Application Center in Rostov-on-Don to be temporarily closed

The UK Visa Application Center in Rostov-on-Don will be closed for several days from Monday, June 26, the press service of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reported. They did not specify the reason for the closure of the center.

The Visa Application Center will be closed from 26 to 30 June. By data ATOR, representatives of the center promise to contact all applicants and offer new dates for submitting documents.

Earlier, against the backdrop of statements by the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, the authorities of the Rostov, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Kursk regions, as well as Moscow and the Moscow region, announced anti-terrorist measures. Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev on the morning of June 24 urged residents not to travel to the M4 Don highway and said that due to traffic restrictions, many kilometers of traffic jams had formed on several sections of the federal highway. The governor also asked residents of Rostov-on-Don to refrain from traveling to the center and stay at home if possible. According to him, the situation is under control and the city administration and services have been instructed to “preserve the normal functioning of all city systems.” It was decided to cancel all public events in the city.

On the evening of June 23, on social networks associated with Prigozhin, on his behalf, it was announced about a missile attack on one of the rear camps of a military company and other statements were circulated. The Ministry of Defense stated that reports of attacks on Wagner PMC fighters are not true and are an “information provocation.” It was reported that the Investigation Department of the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case on the organization of an armed rebellion against Prigozhin.

In connection with the situation with PMC Wagner and its founder, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the citizens of Russia, the personnel of the Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and special services. He stated that all those who prepared an armed rebellion, “took the path of blackmail and terrorist methods”, will be punished – “they will answer both before the law and before our people.”
