U.S. issues ultimatum to TikTok to get rid of Chinese owners

The administration of US President Joe Biden has demanded that the Chinese owners of TikTok sell their shares in the popular video app, threatening to otherwise block the social network in the country. It is reported by Reuters.
According to the agency, the company received a notice from the US Treasury-led Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS) inviting Chinese TikTok owners to sell their stakes.
Video app owner ByteDance said global investors own 60 percent of its shares, employees 20 percent, and founders 20 percent.
This is not the first time that TikTok has been blocked in the US. Previously, the administration of former US President Donald Trump had already tried to do this in 2020, but then this decision was blocked by American courts.
The day before, it was reported that the owners of TikTok were thinking about separating from the parent company due to claims from the US authorities.
