Deputies of the Tyumen City Duma re-elected the current mayor Ruslan Kukharuk for a new term, his candidacy was supported by all 36 deputies present at the meeting. The second candidate, deputy head of the main construction department of the Tyumen region Valery Kiselev, did not receive a single vote.

Since 2011, Ruslan Kuharuk has worked as director of the department of land relations and urban planning of the Tyumen administration, and in 2016 he took the post of deputy head of the administration. In May 2018, he headed the city with the status of acting. O. after the appointment of the then mayor Alexander Moor as acting governor of the region. In October 2018, he was elected head of Tyumen for the first time.

Among the major projects that will be implemented in the near future, Mr. Kukharuk named the improvement of a forest park in the Komarovo area, the expansion of the Zatyumensky eco-park and the creation of a park named after Konstantin Lagunov. Ruslan Kukharuk also announced plans for the construction of modern transport infrastructure in Tyumen: “In the near future, it is necessary to begin creating new transport hubs, such as a bridge across the Trans-Siberian Railway at Akkulyarnaya Street and an overpass across the Tura River, which will connect the part of the city beyond the river with the residential area.” .

At the same meeting, City Duma deputies elected their chairman. The speaker was the ex-head of the Tyumen region, deputy from United Russia Svetlana Ivanova. In 2005–2012, she worked as the head of the department and director of sports and youth policy in Tyumen, from 2012 she served as deputy head of the Tyumen district administration, and in 2015 she headed the district.

Mrs. Ivanova assured the deputies that she “is well aware of the problematic issues of Tyumen.” “Firstly, I worked for seven years in the Tyumen city administration, then in the team of Vladimir Yakushev, then in the team of Alexander Moor. Secondly, because the development of the city and the surrounding Tyumen region occurs in parallel,” she explained. The speaker called on the four parties in the Duma to consolidate and unite around Russian President Vladimir Putin, recalling that the choice that the residents of Tyumen will make in March 2024 will depend on the work of the deputies. “For this choice to be conscious, leading to development and prosperity, you and I must work very hard,” she urged the deputies.
