Two F-35 Lightning II fighters of the US-led coalition made a dangerous rendezvous with a Russian Su-35 in Syrian airspace, Rear Admiral Vadim Kulit, deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, said.
“On August 25, from 09:32, in the Al-Tanf area, at an altitude of about 6,500 meters, a pair of F-35 fighters of the coalition made a dangerous approach to the Su-35 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which was making a planned flight along the southern border of Syria,” Kulit said, his words quoted by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The military official added that the pilot of the Russian Su-35 took steps to avoid a collision with NATO aircraft.
As Kulit emphasized, American coalition planes and drones created dangerous situations in the area 17 times in a day, despite the violation of deconfliction protocols and the fact that international air routes pass there.
On August 23, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that on August 22, the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of Russia attacked the control posts of Jabhat al-Nusra (a terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation) near Syrian Idlib. In total, up to 25 terrorists were eliminated, who were involved in attacks on Syrian government forces and civilian infrastructure.
