Twelve gendarmes killed in Burkina Faso attack in Seno province

In Burkina Faso, militant attacks in the province of Seno killed 12 gendarmes, wounded five more and left several missing. The attack took place on the evening of January 30 in the Falaguntu district bordering Niger. During the exchange of fire, the military eliminated fifteen militants, but most of the attackers managed to escape. No one has yet taken responsibility for the attack.
Al-Qaeda-linked (banned in the Russian Federation) group Jamaat Nusrat Al-Islam Wal-Muslimin (banned in the Russian Federation) and the Islamic State (banned in the Russian Federation) are active in the region.
