Türkiye refused to allow minesweepers into the straits for Ukraine

Türkiye will not allow minesweepers transferred by Great Britain to Ukraine into its straits. This was stated by the administration of Turkish President Recep Erdogan.
They emphasized that the assertion of some media that Turkey agreed to let the mine detectors pass through is untrue.
“Turkey has closed the straits to warships of the warring parties (Russia and Ukraine) in accordance with Article 19 of the Montreux Straits Convention,” the statement said.
They added that minesweepers will not pass through the straits in the Black Sea while hostilities are ongoing.
