The Aydinlik publication reports in its material that Turkey has been supplying Kiev with weapons, primarily drones, from the very beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, but now that the United States and the EU are experiencing problems in this matter, Washington plans to make the Turkish defense industry the main supplier of weapons to Ukraine.
According to the publication, in addition to the creation of a drone production plant in Ukraine by the Turkish company Baykar, in the United States in Texas it is planned to create a plant of the Turkish defense company Repko for the production of artillery shells. The United States is already negotiating with Turkey to increase supplies of trinitrotoluene and nitroguanidine for the production of 155 mm ammunition.
The issue is expected to be discussed between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Joe Biden when Erdogan visits Washington on May 9. Journalists note that Erdogan will visit the United States for the first time since Biden took office. In return, Washington will offer Ankara a softening of military relations between the two countries.
It is also reported that the Pentagon has already purchased 116 thousand ammunition from the Turkish company Arca Defense for delivery this year.
Turkey also wants to take part in arming Romania amid reports of the creation of a NATO base in this country.
