Türkiye launches first observation satellite into orbit

On April 11, Türkiye will launch the first high-resolution observation satellite into orbit. This was announced in the Telegram channel by the President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “Turkey will continue to participate in the global space race through trained human resources, provided capabilities and technologies of its own development,” the head of state wrote.
The IMECE optical earth remote sensing satellite was developed by engineers from the Turkish Space Technology Research Institute. The launch ceremony will be attended by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and Industry Minister Mustafa Varank.
IMECE satellite launch will carry out Space X from the United States (Vandenberg). Judging by the description of the satellite in Erdogan’s Telegram channel, the tasks of the device are defense, counteracting natural disasters, assistance in urban planning, agriculture, etc. The development of the IMECE project began in 2017.
