Turkey’s parliament may consider ratifying Sweden’s bid to join NATO in October. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
“The mutual steps to be taken regarding the process of Sweden’s accession to the alliance were defined in a joint statement. We have issued the necessary warnings to Sweden. We will make our contribution with the opening of Parliament. The final decision is made by the Turkish Grand National Assembly,” Erdogan said, his words leads local edition of Habertürk.

Previously Erdogan declaredthat Parliament may not consider the ratification of Sweden’s accession to NATO until autumn. According to him, this issue may become one of the priorities of the international agenda of the autumn session of the Turkish parliament.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on July 10 following a trilateral closed meeting in Vilnius, which was attended by Erdogan and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, that Ankara agreed to ratify the protocol on the admission of Stockholm to the military bloc, but he did not name the exact dates. Earlier, Erdogan also stipulated that the European Union must clear the way for Turkey to join the union before Ankara approves Sweden’s application for NATO membership.
