Turkey’s parliament ratifies Sweden’s bid to join NATO
On January 23, the Turkish Parliament, during a scheduled plenary meeting, approved Sweden’s application to join NATO by a majority vote.
Let us remind you that it took Turkish parliamentarians several months of discussions to come to this decision. Now the document, in order to finally come into force, will be sent for signature to the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
After completion of all procedures, the approved application will be published in the official publication of the Turkish Cabinet of Ministers, Resmi Gazete.
To date, the only country that has not ratified Sweden’s application to join the North Atlantic Alliance is Hungary.
