Turkish admiral calls for country’s withdrawal from NATO

Retired Admiral of the Turkish Navy Cem Gürdeniz called for the country’s withdrawal from NATO, RIA Novosti quotes him.
The admiral believes that it is the West that currently poses the greatest threat to Turkey, which, among other things, promotes the formation of a separate Kurdish state.
He noted that in all its problems Turkey receives absolutely no help from the EU or NATO, and the plans of these organizations are contrary to Ankara’s interests.
“Turkey needs to withdraw from NATO due to the events surrounding the Ukrainian war and the US planning these days to settle accounts in the Pacific Ocean,” the admiral said, stressing that his country could be drawn into the conflict in Ukraine.
Gürdeniz noted that in the event of a conflict between NATO and the Russian Federation, Turkey would have to close its straits to Russian ships, which would increase the likelihood of using nuclear weapons.
The admiral is sure that Washington has been using Turkey since 1945, and his country needs to get rid of such dependence and pursue an independent political course.
