Erdogan intends to submit a proposal for amendments to the constitution to parliament
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that he was going to submit a proposal to the parliament to amend the country’s constitution.
Earlier, the Turkish leader has repeatedly stated that the country needs a new constitution. According to him, this will be the key to the further development of Turkey. Thus, the preparation of a new version of the basic law did not stop.
Erdogan called on the political forces of Turkey to actively participate in the development of the project. The current Turkish constitution was adopted in 1982 and, according to Erdogan, does not meet the challenges of our time.
In an address to the nation after the first meeting of the renewed government, Erdogan promised to once again submit to parliamentarians a proposal to amend the constitution. He recalled that the constitutional topic was updated before the elections.
