Turkey hopes to extend the term of the grain deal and is making every effort to reach relevant agreements, Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz told local media.
“If this [соглашение о черноморской зерновой инициативе] was not achieved, food prices in the world today would be in a completely different dimension. Our president [Реджеп Тайип Эрдоган] did a great job here not only economically, but also in humanitarian terms. After convincing both sides, he came up with an important initiative. We continue our efforts to continue it in the coming period… I hope that there will be positive results,” – declared Turkish politician (quote from RIA Novosti).
On July 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a conversation with South African leader Cyril Ramaphosa, said that commitments to remove obstacles to Russian food and fertilizer exports remain unfulfilled. According to him, the main goal of the grain deal – the supply of grain to countries in need, including in Africa – was never realized.
The Kremlin has previously said that Russia may withdraw from the grain deal after it ends on July 17. The Russian part of the agreements on the grain deal is still not being fulfilled, among them are the connection of the Russian Agricultural Bank to SWIFT, the supply of agricultural machinery and spare parts, the resuscitation of the ammonia pipeline, the unblocking of transport logistics and insurance, as well as the unfreezing of the assets of Russian companies.
