Turkey has expanded the list of persons it requires to be extradited from Sweden. Now there are 42 people on the list instead of 33, Radio Sweden reports.
“The clear majority of them are accused of belonging to organizations that are considered terrorist in Turkey,” the radio station notes.
It is assumed that 16 people are associated with the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Turkey, 12 with the Gülen movement, which Turkey has recognized as terrorist, seven with leftist groups, and seven more are accused of various crimes, including smuggling.
The extradition of the persons accused by Ankara is one of Turkey’s main demands for the ratification of Sweden’s and Finland’s accession to NATO.
