Turkey has decided to appoint an ambassador to Israel and restore diplomatic relations with this country in full, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said. transmits agency Anadolu.

“A decision was made to appoint an ambassador to Israel, and the Israeli side also received a positive response in this regard. Soon our candidacy will be presented to the president,” the statement said. Cavusoglu also expressed hope that this process will be successful for both sides.

Cavusoglu noted that with the advent of the new government headed by Yitzhak Herzog, who took over as President of Israel in 2021 and paid an official visit to Ankara in March this year, a positive dialogue began between the countries. He said that work on the appointment of ambassadors began after he met with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid in June this year.

In turn, he noted that not only the ambassadors, but also the consuls of the two countries would be returned.
