Turkey, following the talks held in Moscow, agreed to withdraw the Turkish military from the territories they control in northern Syria.
This is reported by the Syrian newspaper Al Watan.
According to the source of the publication, the result of the meeting of the defense ministers of Russia, Syria and Turkey was Turkey’s consent to the complete withdrawal of Turkish forces from the areas they occupied in northern Syria.
In addition, the material of the publication says that Ankara confirmed its intention to respect the sovereignty and integrity of the Syrian territories.
Earlier it was reported that the heads of the defense departments of Turkey Hulusi Akar, the Russian Federation – Sergei Shoigu and Syria – Ali Mahmoud Abbas at a meeting in Moscow agreed to create a tripartite commission.
On December 28, ministers held talks for the first time since civil war broke out in Syria in 2011. Turkey, which had maintained close relations with Damascus before this conflict, took the side of the opponents of President Bashar al-Assad. Since then, Turkey’s relations with Syria have remained complicated and tense. In recent weeks, both sides, according to media publications, have started talking about the possibility of a gradual normalization.
