The Russian Tu-160 supersonic strategic bombers have received new Kh-BD cruise missiles. Their range exceeds 6500 km. The commander of long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash, told the DPRK leader Kim Jong-un about this.
North Korean leader visited the airfield Knevichi in Primorye together with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Mr. Kobylash clarified that the carrying capacity of the Tu-160 is 100 tons. “It carries an X-BD missile with a range of more than 6,500 km,” the commander added (quoted by TASS). Mr. Shoigu clarified that two cassettes of six missiles each were installed there.
Kim Jong-un has been visiting Russia since September 13. That day, he and Russian President Vladimir Putin met at the Vostochny Cosmodrome and held negotiations that lasted about four hours. September 15, the leader of the DPRK visited Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
