TSMC will increase investment in its US advanced chip manufacturing plant to $40 billion

Today, December 6, the world’s largest chip manufacturer is the Taiwanese company TSMC announced about a threefold increase in investments in its American plant in Arizona, which will produce some of the most advanced chips. At the beginning of November it became knownthat TSMC is committing $12 billion to expand production at its existing facility in Arizona.
In today’s release, the company notes that the Arizona plant is currently preparing to start manufacturing chips using the N4 process as early as 2024, and from 2026, the plant will start producing even more advanced 3nm chips. TSMC’s total expansion investment will be $40 billion, one of the largest single foreign direct investments in US history. The company added that the expansion of production will provide 10,000 new jobs in addition to those 10,000 that are already involved in the work of the enterprise.
A statement to increase investment was made the day before today’s visit by US President Joseph Biden, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly to the TSMC facility.
