VTB suspends the payment of coupon income on a number of issues of subordinated bonds and the issue of perpetual Eurobonds. This is reported Interfax with reference to the press service of the bank.
This decision does not carry any restrictions on secondary circulation and transactions with subordinated bonds, VTB explained. The decision to suspend payments was made in order to strengthen the capital position, it was agreed with the Bank of Russia. VTB also does not exclude the possibility of replacing the issue of perpetual subordinated Eurobonds with a local ruble subordinated instrument.
“VTB complies with all the capital adequacy ratios set by the Bank of Russia and is implementing measures to strengthen its capital position, which will allow it to return to paying coupon income on these bond issues in the future,” VTB said.
The decision concerns income on perpetual Eurobonds (ISIN XS0810596832) starting from payment on December 6, as well as income in 2023 on perpetual bonds of the SUB-T1-1, SUB-T1-2, SUB-T1-3, SUB-T1- series 4, SUB-T1-5, SUB-T1-6, SUB-T1-8, SUB-T1-9, SUB-T1-10, SUB-T1-11, SUB-T1-12 and SUB-T1-13.
Shares of VTB on the background of this information briefly fell by 7.5%.
