Tsarev’s scheme: FSB General Mikhailov explained the absence of attempts on Ukrainian officials

“Our people are more valuable to us than those scoundrels”

Retired FSB Major General Alexander Mikhailov commented to MK on the detention of the coordinator of the assassination attempt on the ex-speaker of the Novorossiya parliament Oleg Tsarev. According to Mikhailov, the assassination attempt on Tsarev became possible as a result of both his own carelessness and the shortcomings of the security system as a whole. The general also explained why there were no attempts on the lives of Ukrainian officials in Kyiv.

– Tsarev is a fatalist. – said Mikhailov. – Literally a few hours before the assassination attempt, he gave an interview in which he talked about the crimes of the SBU, about the murders organized by this service, about what goals it sets and who it hunts. He probably thought that all this could happen to anyone, but not to him. That’s how he ended up in this position.

Mikhailov also commented on the information that Oleg Tsarev walked around without security, despite requests from the politician’s relatives to hire a bodyguard.

– No security can guarantee 100% safety. If a person goes for a walk at night, they can shoot at him from behind any bush. And even if he were accompanied by security, they still could not do anything, the retired FSB major general is sure.

Alexander Mikhailov emphasized that it is unlikely that in the testimony detained accomplice in crime there will be something significantly new.

“The only thing useful he can say is who recruited him, where is this person, if he is still on Russian territory,” the expert emphasized.

Mikhailov also noted that Tsarev is a fearless person; he underestimated the degree of threat to himself personally. On the other hand, he has been living in this state for many years,

– What happened on October 27 could have happened on any other day. While talking about the threats from the SBU to all leaders of Ukrainian public opinion, Tsarev, however, found himself in this situation himself. A person cannot live constantly looking around. He considered that where he was, he was fully provided with physical protection, but it really didn’t work.

Today we have a security system with the help of which we have learned to solve crimes quickly and efficiently, but have not learned to prevent them.

Answering MK’s question why the Russian special services do not carry out similar actions against iconic figures of the Kiev regime, Mikhailov replied that, unlike the SBU and its agents, who are “classic bandits,” the Russian special services have long been, since 1951, abandoned terrorist activities.

– This is already the method of work of our special services. – said the general. – There is another important point here. Any assassination attempt that takes place on enemy territory involves a risk to the lives of those people who will carry out this task. Our people are more valuable to us than those scoundrels who should have been eliminated long ago.”

Earlier today it became known that the FSB detained the coordinator of the assassination attempt on Oleg Tsarev, a resident of Yalta, who, on instructions from the SBU, got a job in a sanatorium that the politician owned and lived in, collected information about his movements and equipped a cache for storing weapons. The detainee confessed.
