Trutnev called for the revival of universal military training in Russia

It is necessary to revive universal military training in Russia against the backdrop of emerging international contradictions. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD) Yuri Trutnev, speaking at a meeting on security issues of the Far Eastern Federal District in Magadan.

“At present, when Russia is under powerful sanctions pressure, when dozens of our cities are under shelling, the revival of universal military training, patriotic, spiritual traditions of our people is necessary for victory today and for the future of Russia tomorrow,” he said (quote according to TASS).

According to Trutnev, NATO countries are “trying to break” Russia’s economy, culture and traditions. To do this, they conduct propaganda work on the Internet among schoolchildren and youth, trying to “wash out the basic concepts” from the attention of young people, including patriotism, he added.

At the same time, Trutnev continued, “the degradation of the military training system was taking place.” The Deputy Prime Minister drew attention to the fact that primary military training was abandoned in schools, and only 1.4% of students take this course in universities.

General military training includes includes classes in combat and fire, as well as technical and military medical training, the study of general military regulations, the development of subjects in radiation, chemical and biological protection, etc. The purpose of the classes is to develop skills in combined arms combat, temper citizens physically and help them get comfortable in army environment.

An integral part of general military training is basic military training (CMP). From September 1, 2023, the NVP course will be returned for grades 10 and 11 as part of the life safety lessons. Classes will be required.
