The bank of non-core assets “Trust” transferred a controlling stake in the research and production corporation “United Wagon Company” (UWC) to a core investor. This is reported by RBC with reference to the head of the bank, Alexander Sokolov.

“We sold the rights to claim the loans and our 93.6% stake, which was formed as a result of an additional issue. The deal is closed, the money has arrived. I won’t disclose the details,” said Alexander Sokolov in an interview with RBC. He did not name the buyer, but noted that this is a specialized investor.

According to Alexander Sokolov, this was a direct sale without announcing a tender, since UWC is a backbone enterprise in the railcar building industry, which occupies more than 80% of the market in the innovative railcar building segment. “Objectively, for the country, this is a strategic asset, the sale of which follows a slightly different trajectory than other assets that Trust sells at open auction,” he noted. UWC is Russia’s largest manufacturer of high-capacity freight trains.
