Trump confirms he has been charged in the case of classified documents

Former US President Donald Trump wrote on his social network The Truth Social that his lawyers were notified of the indictment in the case of illegal possession of classified documents found on his estate in Florida. About it informed NBC news channel.
“Corrupt Biden administration informed my lawyers that I am indicted,” Trump tweeted.
In total, he was charged with seven criminal charges in connection with the mishandling of more than a hundred classified documents that were discovered during a search of his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida in 2022. According to an NBC source, Trump will have to appear in U.S. District Court June 13th.
According to the former president’s lawyer, Trump faces at least one charge related to the espionage law, “several charges of obstruction, and then charges of perjury.”
Trump took the classified documents to his estate in Florida after the end of his presidential term in 2020. He subsequently voluntarily turned over these documents to the national archives, but the FBI decided to search his residence anyway in August 2022. As The Wall Street Journal reported at the time, The FBI collected four sets of “top secret” documents and three sets of “secret” and “confidential” documents. Trump himself said that they were all declassified and that he could hand over these documents voluntarily, without a search. Trump also noted their irrelevance, calling it a raid, and complained that FBI agents broke into the safe.
