Trade unions asked the government to abandon the moratorium on labor inspections

The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR) asks the government to remove labor inspections of businesses from the moratorium. The organization believes that the lack of full-fledged supervision does not allow workers’ rights to be fully protected, as follows from a letter from FNPR Chairman Mikhail Shmakov to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin (Vedomosti has the document). The government office confirmed to Vedomosti that it had received the letter.

The moratorium was introduced by government decree of March 10, 2022 to support business in connection with the imposed sanctions. According to this document, unscheduled inspections of enterprises can be carried out only in exceptional cases, for example, when there is a threat to the life and health of people. This requires approval from the prosecutor’s office. Scheduled inspections were left only in the sanitary-epidemiological, veterinary and fire departments for a small list of highly dangerous objects; supervision in the field of industrial safety was also maintained. In March of this year, the norm was extended until 2030.
