The trade turnover between Russia and Uzbekistan for the first nine months of 2022 increased by 37% compared to the same period in 2021 and reached $5.3 billion, Denis Manturov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said.
“Given that we are in October, and according to statistics, the result for January-September is $5.3 billion in trade turnover between our countries. Obviously, this will be higher than last year, because the growth has already reached 37%,” Mr. Manturov said at a press conference after a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan. According to the minister, by the end of the year, the trade turnover is projected to grow to $8.5 billion.
The volume of Russian investments in the economy of Uzbekistan, according to the minister, has grown to $10 billion. Investments were made in the oil and gas industry and energy, as well as in telecommunications and the agricultural sector. In August, the Uzbek authorities said that in 2022, in terms of foreign trade, Russia ranks second after China.
According to Mr. Manturov, Russia interested in the supply of Uzbek automotive components. In July, Denis Manturov proposed to allow legal entities import cars to Russia from Uzbekistan under parallel import schemes.
