The trade turnover between Russia and India in 2022 exceeded $35 billion, which is 2.5 times more than a year earlier, said Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
“Basically, of course, this is due to the supply of our energy carriers and mineral fertilizers to India. Indian colleagues are also increasing the volume of deliveries of their products,” the minister told reporters (quoted by RIA Novosti). According to him, the countries are also working to create conditions for mutual settlements in national currencies.
Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, the trade turnover between India and Russia has increased due to trade along the North-South transport corridor. This allowed Russia for the first time to enter the top 5 trading partners of India. In March, The Economic Times informedthat Armenia offered India to provide a trade corridor through the Black Sea in order to make the route of Indian goods to Russia and Europe faster.
