Trade turnover between Russia and Georgia in January-June 2022 increased by 32%

Trade turnover between Russia and Georgia in the first half of the year increased by 32% compared to the same period in 2021 and amounted to $962 million, follows from data government statistics agency Geostat.
Russia ranks second among Georgia’s partners with a share of 11.4% in the country’s total trade turnover, despite the fact that in 2008 Georgia officially severed diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation. In January-June, Georgia’s exports to Russia amounted to more than 41,000 tons of ferroalloys, the amount of which exceeds $86 million, in addition, 21,000 tons of natural wines worth more than $57 million, 34,000 tons of mineral and cars – about $14 million, as well as more than 3,400 tons of alcoholic beverages – $13.6 million.
Russia supplied Georgia with 198,000 tons of oil and oil products – $184 million, about 157,000 tons of oil gases and hydrocarbons – $40 million, 53,000 tons of coke and semi-coke – $40 million, more than 77,000 tons of wheat or wheat-rye flour – more than $28 million, as well as 14,800 tons of margarine – $ 25.7 million.
Turkey ranks first in terms of trade with Georgia. Their trade turnover in January-June amounted to $1.2 billion, an increase of 37% year-on-year. In third place is China with a trade turnover of $922 million (an increase of 41%).
