Times: Britain disposed of 43 Challenger 2 tanks that could be transferred to Ukraine

According to information received by The Times, the British Ministry of Defense has disposed of 43 Challenger 2 tanks that could be transferred to Ukraine as support. The process has cost taxpayers millions of pounds. As specified, it was decided to dispose of combat vehicles, since their repair was recognized as economically inexpedient.
This disposal took place between 2010 and 2014 and cost £4.3 million. Military analyst and former Challenger 2 commander Justin Crump said the tanks were among the least used by the British Army and were in storage at the time of the decision to scrap them. Keeping these tanks was too costly, and major ground conflicts in Europe were considered a thing of the past.
Earlier, the UK sent Ukraine 14 Challenger 2 tanks from its army as military aid. In May, Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace confirmed that all promised tanks had been successfully delivered to Ukraine. This assistance was provided in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, in which Ukraine needed additional support.
