The Ulyanovsk regional court on Tuesday confirmed the right of citizens to gather for rallies in the local “Hyde Park” without the consent of the mayor’s office, rejecting the latter’s appeal against the decision of the Leninsky district court. Earlier, this court satisfied the claim of human rights activist Konstantin Tolkachev, declaring illegal the refusal of the city administration to agree on the action scheduled for March 14 “for the return of direct elections of the mayor of Ulyanovsk.” As a result, the event took place, becoming the first rally in the history of the city that was not agreed with the mayor’s office.
