Three UN World Food Program workers killed in clashes in Sudan
Three employees of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) were killed during clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Reaction Force (RRF).
Volker Perthes, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sudan and Head of the UN Transitional Support Mission in Sudan, said this on Sunday, TASS reports.
From his statement it follows that three WFP employees were killed in the city of Kabkabiya in the state of North Darfur on Saturday during clashes between Sudanese security forces.
Earlier in Khartoum, armed clashes began between units of the Sudanese army and rapid reaction forces, caused by disagreements between the political forces in the country.
The number of people who died as a result of the clashes was called – 56 people, another 596 citizens were injured.
The situation in Sudan will be discussed by the UN Security Council on April 17. Moscow calls on the conflicting parties to cease fire.
