Three Russian servicemen were killed while trying to attack the military airfields of long-range aviation “Dyagilevo” in the Ryazan region and “Engels” in the Saratov region, transmits press service of the Ministry of Defense.
“Ukrainian UAVs flying at low altitude were intercepted by the air defense systems of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Three Russian servicemen of the technical staff who were at the airfield were fatally wounded, ”the message says. Four more servicemen who were wounded were taken to medical facilities.
As a result of the fall and explosion of fragments of jet drones at Russian airfields, the hull skin of two aircraft was also slightly damaged.
The incident at the Dyagilevo air base on the western outskirts of Ryazan in the early morning of December 5 became known from eyewitness reports on social networks. The emergency services told TASS that the explosion occurred at the aircraft parking lot.
Another incident occurred at a facility near the town of Engels in the Saratov region. Telegram channel Baza reported that it allegedly affected the runway of the local airbase. The Saratov 24 TV channel, in turn, cited the words of eyewitnesses about a loud sound, similar to an explosion, and a flash, which some of them managed to see.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that the Kremlin is aware of the state of emergency at airfields in the Saratov and Ryazan regions. According to him, Vladimir Putin received a report on this from the “relevant services”.
