The premiere of “The Queen of Spades” took place on the main capital’s stage. The ballet to Tchaikovsky’s opera music was staged by Yuri Posokhov, the libretto by Valery Pecheykin is based on Pushkin’s story of the same name. The result was an original performance, even action-packed in some ways. The role of the old countess was entrusted to a man (danced by Vyacheslav Lopatin), and according to the plot, another countess appears on stage – in her youth.

The ballet’s partner was the jewelry house Parure Atelier. For the second year in a row, the company selects high-profile premieres and dedicates capsule collections to them, and this happens just before the New Year. At the end of 2022, “The Nutcracker” will appear on the stage of the MAMT named after. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko (staged by the same Posokhov) were inspired by the winter jewelry “Waltz of the Snowflakes” made of white gold, diamonds and aquamarines.

Pushkin’s plot turned out to be much more dramatic. The Queen of Spades collection is built on the contrast of red and black, sparkling white gold and blackened rhodium-plated metal. The motif of a deck and card suits is masterfully played out in rings, earrings, and pendants. There are double-sided card signet rings, earrings in the shape of cards folded like a fan, and jewelry with suits on chains of different lengths. Red spinels and rubies are responsible for the hearts, black diamonds and thunder spinels are for the spades. A pair of asymmetrical stud earrings consisted of large red and black heart-cut spinels, each weighing almost 5 carats. The main decoration of the series was a brooch in the form of a young lady in a spectacular neckline – the one who knows the three treasured cards.
