The head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, said that 11 people are currently participating in the election campaign. Three of them – Vladislav Davankov from New People, Leonid Slutsky from the Liberal Democratic Party, Nikolai Kharitonov from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation – are officially registered as presidential candidates.

“Let me remind you once again and clarify what is happening now: at this stage, we have 11 people participating in the election campaign, although at different stages. Eight of them were nominated by political parties, three were nominated by self-nomination – these are those who are currently participating in the election campaign at this stage,” Ella Pamfilova said at a meeting of the Central Election Commission (quoted from “RIA News”).

Three candidates were registered earlier than the rest, as they nominated themselves from parties represented in parliament. From extra-parliamentary parties Sergei Malinkovich (Communists of Russia), Boris Nadezhdin (Civil Initiative), Andrei Bogdanov (Russian Freedom and Justice Party), Sergei Baburin (Russian All-People’s Union) and Irina Sviridova (Democratic Party) were nominated Russia”) – they need to collect 100 thousand signatures from voters. Vladimir Putin, the Russian Rada and Anatoly Batashev are running as self-nominated candidates – they must collect 300 thousand signatures each.

At the meeting, Ella Pamfilova added that the Central Election Commission will turn to legislators with a proposal to clarify the status of the candidate for the presidency of Russia. This, she said, will allow her to avoid speculation about her status.

At the meeting, the Central Election Commission also formed a commission to conduct remote electronic voting. It will include 12 people led by Oleg Artamonov. More than 2 thousand electronic voting terminals will also be used during the Russian presidential elections in March.

The CEC allocated 7.6 billion rubles to inform citizens about the presidential elections. Previously, the Federation Council appointed them for March 17. The Central Election Commission decided to hold them over three days: March 15, 16 and 17.
